When we found out we were expecting another child, we knew we needed more space. We initially looked at moving, but couldn't find anywhere that offered everything we already loved about our current home. Ground Floor Reconfiguration- Paulton We LOVE our new house, it genuinely feels like it is a new place to live. It’s often difficult to have strangers into your safe space. However, as soon as Paul (Sel) got going, we realised how professional an operation it was and how lovely Sal (and Scott) were. Every single day, we would message each other saying 'I can't wait to get home and see what they have gotten up to today'. Sel was unflappable, my stupid questions weren't treated as such. What a great guy. The little things add up. They were on time every day or explained why they were going to be late. Their vans were clean and tidy, the build area was hoovered and mopped before they left. Despite significant structural work being carried out, our whole family (and there are a few of us) were able to live as normal (or close to it). Our initial meeting with Paul provided a good guide for what was to come. A team who genuinely wanted to ensure we got exactly what we wanted as opposed to taking the quickest and easiest build decision. We were very impressed with the amount of free time that Paul gave us even before we committed to working together. Throughout the build we were consulted with the various design/material options both costed (so no hidden costs) and explained so we could choose what we wanted. As things progressed, we often asked Paul for his own suggestion to overcome the inevitable issues which come to light in the reality of turning the architects drawings to the real life build situation. This is the level of trust we had in Paul (and his team) and often a lot of time was generously given by them to help overcome obstacles that often weren’t directly related to their own scope of works. The attention to detail was excellent throughout and it is a shame that not every building team cares so much about the final outcome. Our build (loft conversion and side extension) was complicated by a number of external factors and it is in those difficult and stressful times that you need the full support of the building team and we certainly appreciated all the work that both Nadine and Paul did for us both personally and on the build. We can’t stress enough how important it is to have a building team who genuinely care for you as both people (as a building project is time consuming) as well as the actual build itself. Building contractors often get unfairly labelled and we believe the Excellence Team are proof that with good communication and an open and honest approach where both sides work together, great things can be built. We received any number of positive comments on how the team were always polite, respectful, and aware of keeping the disruption and noise around the build to a minimum. This in itself is often not considered before deciding on which builder to choose but in our view is so important. We would strongly recommend the Excellence Team. Consultation Phase: I reached out to excellence living after a family friend had recommenced them to me. I had an initial consultation with Paul who was fantastic at helping me form a plan of the total scope of work required. Paul's wealth of knowledge was really helpful when deciding what areas of work needed doing for the budget I had in mind. Upon talking to Paul he gave me confidence that his team could deliver my scope of work to a very high level of quality without compromising on cost or time. Build Phase: Once the scope of work had been agreed, Paul and his team started work on my property. It became very apparent to me how efficient these guys were. Within the first week they had already ripped out the bathroom and the kitchen!! Paul was extremely helpful as he would very regularly communicate with me any updates that had taken place and answer any questions/concerns I had. Project Tracker: The team were quick and great at remedying any variations that had occurred and it was great to track these in the tracker that Nadine had provided for me. This gave me the opportunity to track my total spend for the project. Managing 3rd party contractors: Excellence living managing all the external contractors was a weight lifted off my shoulders!! They relayed all the information I had previously said in the consultation phase to the electrician plumber etc. This meant it was all managed under one roof. The contractors were very good at keeping an open line of communication with both myself and excellence living. This allowed me to keep making any last minute changes very easily.
