Tim & Debra lived in a stunning conservation area, in Backwell North Somerset. Their unique & beautiful period cottage benefited from the most spectacular open views and an existing loft conversion, which their son, who was a keen musician, wanted to use as his bedroom.

Unfortunately, the loft did not meet Building Regulations & didn’t quite provide the ideal space he needed to accommodate a spacious bedroom or his music.

Excellence Living was contracted to install new steel work to enlarge the space, reinsulate, and redesign the floorplan to maximise the lofts space and true potential.

To make the most out of the properties panoramic countryside views, we also installed a Velux Cabrio Balcony window system, which again opened-up the loft space and provided majestic inspiration to their musician son.

Being in a conservation area, gaining planning permission can be quite tricky. However, with our years of experience and positive ways of working alongside Local Authority planning officers, we were able to secure the necessary planning consent, which made all the difference to the finished project and the overall space.
