Overview
John and Tracey were referred to Excellence by our trusted architects, who had been guiding them through the initial design phase. Impressed by our extensive construction experience and glowing client feedback, John & Tracey sought our expertise to provide insight into crucial building decisions and to assist in developing a comprehensive project plan with associated costs.
After collaborating with John and Tracey to establish trust and a strong relationship, we were honored to be entrusted with the core aspect of their basement conversion project. This phase would lay the foundation for subsequent work by individual trades as their budget permitted.
The project involved significant excavation work, utilizing both machinery and manual labor. The existing basement underwent a complete transformation, with all internal spaces being reconfigured to create a semi open-plan layout. This space would accommodate a Master Bedroom, walk-in wardrobe, relaxation area, and bathroom.
To enhance the entrance to the basement, the existing garden stone steps and balcony were dismantled, salvaging as much original stonework as possible. This allowed for the creation of a spacious new entrance and an adjacent seating area. The installation of bi-fold doors added a touch of grandeur, opening up the entire basement entrance and lending the conversion an impressive aesthetic appeal.
New stone steps were carefully positioned, and an extensive block and beam floor was laid to create a spacious new balcony area. This area now serves as a seamless connection between the main house, upper lounge, and the outdoors, offering two distinct seating areas from which to appreciate the expansive front garden and its mature landscaping.
